Ans:- A PATIENT LITTLE GIRL
Once a very -severe famine broke out in one of the towns of Gujarat State. People began to die of hunger. They ran here and there for the food. The Government came forward for their help. But even then the severity of the famine did not lessen. Then some rich men with their large-heartedness came forward. They set up their own relief camps. They distributed food for the benefit of the famine-stricken (sufferers) people.
Many such relief camps Worked day and night to cope with the grave situation. People collected in thousands in front of such camps. They formed mile-long queues. They carried there right from early in the morning. Once in such a queue, there was a very small girl. She was known by the name of Radha. She was parentless. She also came with a bowl for food and rice.
Radha was standing in this very long queue. It was afternoon. The sun was very hot. People standing in that queue grew restless. They became extremely impatient. There was a lot of pulling and pushing. Then all of a sudden the formation broke. People rushed forward to get the food at the earliest. There was rowdyism. There were din and noise — who were strong and powerful in physical strength they got the food. The old men, women and children were pushed back. What to talk of Radha, she was flung to the other end of the queue. She stood there until the evening. At last, she came to the food counter. She got a very small loaf of bread. She cut it to eat. Lo ! two silver coins fell tingling out of it. She immediately went to the Seth Ji (the rich man). She returned the money. It impressed the man greatly. He said to the child, “Radha take these coins. ‘They are the reward of your patience. Take this hundred – rupee note as the reward of your honesty.
Moral: Honesty is the greatest virtue.
