A REPORT
An Inter-school Oratorical Competition was conducted by the Government of India on the 17th of March, 2003. The topic of the speech was ‘Women Empowerment.’ It was a State level competition in which participants from all over the state took part. There were about thirty participants, including myself, from our school. It was a very interesting competition in which all the participants spoke strongly in favour of Women Empowerment. But there were divergent views on the scope and field of this empowerment. I, too, expressed my views on the subject to which I got thunderous applause. I said that no door open to men should be closed to women, and if anyone persisted to do it, women had the right to break it open. And when it came to the giving away of prizes, I was surprised to hear that I had bagged the first prize. I really fell very proudly.
