Ans:-                       THE SNAKE AND THE FROG

In a certain village, there was a pond. In that pond, hundreds of frogs lived. They lived very happily. They croaked day and night. They were very happy with their King and Queen. The time went on.

One day a cruel snake came to that pond. He developed a friendship with the king of the frogs. The snake took the king on his back for a joy-ride and sight-seeing. On his return, he demanded the price of his labour and friendship. The king offered him a few frogs to eat. The snake relished them. The days went by. Now it became an everyday affair. The snake came, made the Frog King sit on his back and went out for sight-seeing. Every time he went to a new place. The king of the frogs was extremely glad. Without any labour or trouble, he was visiting new places. On his return, he presented a few frogs as food to the snake.

A day came when the pond was without frogs. All the frogs were eaten up by the snake. It is an old saying. “A little of anything taken out every day empties even a well of it.” Now only the King and his Queen were left. The snake looked to them with longing eyes. He had an eye on them for many days. He was determined to devour the two of them. They were healthy. They were fat. They had flesh enough to satiate the hunger of the snake.

As per habit he came and invited his friend ‘Frog King’ for a sight-seeing of a very beautiful place. The king could not resist the temptation of going. The Queen dissuaded him. She requested the snake to pardon them. But he forcibly made the king sitting on his back. On their return, he asked for the price. Finding no more frogs in the pond, he devoured the King and the Queen.

Moral: Selfishness recoils on the head of the doer.
