Helps You Notice Details
Writing a bio sketch helps you observe a person’s looks, nature, and actions more closely. It sharpens your observation skills.
Improves Sentence Flow
You learn how to link ideas clearly and smoothly, which makes your writing more natural and interesting.
Strengthens Thinking Skills
It makes you think deeper about what makes someone unique — beyond facts, you explore their character and qualities.
Useful for Real-Life Writing
In future essays, profiles, or job-related writing, bio sketch skills help you express ideas clearly and confidently.
Makes Learning Fun and Personal
You can write about someone you admire — a grandparent, friend, or teacher — which makes the experience enjoyable and personal.
1. Title (Always Write It First)
Start with the person’s full name as your heading.
Tip: Don’t write just “Bio Sketch.” Write something like: Biographical Sketch of Mary Kom / My Grandfather / A Wise Man.
2. First Paragraph – Basic Details
Write the person’s full name, date/place of birth (if known), and why the person is special or known.
Tip: Keep this paragraph short — just 2 to 3 lines.
3. Second Paragraph – Appearance and Nature
This is the longest paragraph. Describe how the person looks — face, eyes, hair, height, clothes — and their nature like polite, brave, kind, funny, etc.
Tip: Use good words and give one small example to show their nature.
4. Third Paragraph – Achievements or Final Thought
Mention what the person has done — awards, good work, or anything inspiring. End with one personal or strong line.
Tip: Write one line to show why you like or respect them.
Note for Class 7 Bio Sketch
Make the middle paragraph longer than the first and last. Use simple, rich words. If writing about a family member or friend, it’s okay to use “I” or “my.” Otherwise, always use third person (he/she/they).

1. I wrote everything in one paragraph. Will I lose marks?

Yes, you might. Bio sketch must follow a proper format — 3 parts: intro, main details, and ending. It helps teachers check easily and keeps your answer organised.

2. Can I mix facts with imagination in bio sketches?

Yes — but only in the case if details are missing. Just don’t make it sound fake. Use believable things like “He is always neat and soft-spoken” or “She loves reading in free time.”

3. I get confused between paragraph writing and bio sketch. How are they different?

Paragraphs are usually about ideas or events. A bio sketch is about a person. It has a clear structure and you don’t explain opinions — you just describe facts and traits.

4. My handwriting is not very good. Will it affect my marks?

If teachers can’t read it easily, yes. Marks may be cut. Try to write slowly and neatly. Keep spacing clear, and underline the title — that makes it look better.
