Ans:-                                       THE VAIN STAG

Once upon a time, there lived a vain stag in a certain jungle. He was drinking water, once by the edge of a pool. He saw his reflection in the clear still water of the pool. He appreciated his fine golden horns very much. Then his eyes fell on his legs. They were very ugly-and thin. He hated the very sight of them.

By chance, hounds saw him from a far-off place. They rushed to catch him. He also saw them. He ran as fast as he could. It was his ugly-thin legs which carried him beyond the reach’ of the hounds. When he was running at a terrific speed he passed by very thick bushes. By chance, his fine golden horns got entangled in the bushes. However hard did he try, he could not free himself from the thorny bushes. The pack of hounds hotly chased him. They caught hold of him. They tore him to pieces. The poor stag was killed instantly.

The vain stag’s legs whom he considered to be thin and very ugly carried him to a distant place. But the golden horns which gave him a sense of vanity proved fatal for him. They got entangled. They caused his death.

The poor creature could not understand the mysteries of God. His thin legs were very helpful to him. His horns entangled him till he was torn to pieces.

Moral: All that glitters is not gold.
