Sir

Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of the concerned authorities and common masses towards planning to convert our neighbourhood park, the only green belt, into a residential block with a convenience store.

This park is the only spot where residents can breathe in the fresh air. It is a haven for morning walkers and fitness enthusiasts. Youngsters and the elderly pass their time sitting here. Moreover, this green belt is also a haven for different species of birds. It is the only place where our children can play and jump without any fear of speeding vehicles.

There are enough commercial places in our area and residential units are too many. We have an apprehension that this change in the land use is on the behest of the ‘land mafia’. This park is the only lung for our congested residential area. Voices are being raised to organise a protest march. Kindly reconsider this decision keeping in view the environment of the area. Please take appropriate action to save our park.
