1. Why Mrs Packletide Wanted to Hunt a Tiger: Mrs Packletide decided to shoot a tiger. She was not interested in hunting for fun or bravery. Her only reason was jealousy. Her friend, Loona Bimberton, had recently flown 11 miles in an aeroplane with an Algerian pilot. Loona kept talking about it and got famous. Mrs Packletide wanted to do something even bigger to show off and get attention. She planned a lunch party in Curzon Street with a tiger-skin rug on display. She even thought of gifting Loona a tiger-claw brooch on her birthday.

2. The Tiger Hunt is Planned: Mrs Packletide offered ₹1,000 to a nearby village to help her hunt a tiger. The villagers agreed quickly. They had an old tiger in their forest. This tiger had become weak and stopped hunting wild animals. Now it only attacked goats and small animals.
