TWO CATS AND THE MONKEY

Once they were two cats. They were very fast friends. They lived like two real sisters.

One day they were passing by a bakery. There they found a very big piece of cake. They were very happy. But both of them were very hungry. Each wanted a bigger piece to appease her hunger. Then they quarrelled. Many animals gathered there. They wanted to play as the middlemen. At last, a strong and powerful monkey was chosen to play as their judge. He took the big piece of cake in each of his two hands. He weighed the two ‘pieces with the feel of his hands. He found the piece in his right hand a bit earlier. As an impartial judge, his job was very difficult. He bit the chunk from the heavier piece. Now the other piece appeared to him heavier. He ate a little of it. In this way, he went on lessening the two pieces. The poor cats looked towards his hands. Sometimes they looked towards his face. They were awfully hungry. And the judge was munching the two pieces one by one, bit by bit in the name of justice. They were exhausted. Their patience was already at the extreme end. Now they begged the money to give back the little °lithe cake which was left out. Because a big portion of it was already in the belly of the monkey. But the cruel monkey did not listen_ to their pleadings. At last, he said; “All right, if you do not want me _to settle your quarrel, you can go. I cannot give back this little cake. I shall keep it myself as the fee of my labour”. Saying this he devoured the rest of the cake. The two cats had to go back meekly.

Moral: Going to the law is highly injurious.
