Ans. The Missing Child
Outside a city mall, I saw a crowd pacifying a lady. She was crying bitterly while clutching a doll. “What happened? Why are you crying?” asked a curious onlooker. “My…my child,” she wept. “Well,” said another, “go on.” The lady, however, didn’t utter a word and kept crying. It was almost pitiful to see her. Finally, a young man intervened. “Give her some space, everybody,” he said. The crowd moved back and the man continued, “Now, tell us what happened.” Sobbing, the woman said, “I came to the mall with my little girl. After roaming inside for a while, she demanded ice cream. I told her that I would get it for her, but she handed me her doll and said that she would get it herself. It’s been an hour since she left, and I can’t find her anywhere. My child…!”
“Let’s look for her inside first,” said the young man. As everybody started searching, the young man’s eye fell on the teddy bear kept for display in the toy store. Resting against the huge toy was a little girl, fast asleep. He quickly brought the mother there. She was overjoyed. As the young man walked away, he wondered, “Children…how unpredictable they can be!”.
