Once a lion and a goat lived in a forest. They lived like friends. Both of them cared for each other. Whenever the lion came out to hunt, he met the goat which came for grazing. They spent some time in the company of each other. In fact, the lion-guarded the goat from any big animal trying to hunt him. Slowly, the lion went sober wondering whether he should hunt other living beings at all. He even asked the goat if eating grasses would keep him fit. The goat, however, said that since he was born with a tooth and claws the lion has to be a flesh-eating animal. After deep thinking, the lion decided he should not hunt animals but of course search for dead animals to feed himself.
Now, as he decided firmly that he should not hurt at all; he went searching for dead animals, but it was a difficult task as he got food only some of the days. Day by day, the lion began to grow weak. His friend, the goat persuaded him to go for hunting. Still, the lion was adamant.
One day the lion felt very weak even to sit up. Seeing him so, a wolf that was passing by decided to use the opportunity to kill him and have his flesh as a feast for some days. Just as he neared the lion the goat distracted him deliberately to save his friend. The wolf now started chasing the goat which led him to another lion’s cave and vanished. That lion saw the wolf pounced upon him and killed him instantly.
