Short Summary of the Chapter: Virtually True

The story is about a boy named Michael who loves playing computer games. His father is crazy about computers and buys him new games and gadgets from a Computer Fair. One day, they buy a virtual reality visor, gloves, and some psycho-drive games. These games can be controlled by the mind.

When Michael plays a game called Wild west, he meets a strange characterโ€”a boy about his ageโ€”who is not like other game characters. He later learns that this boy is Sebastian Shultz. After the game ends, Michael finds a message printed from his computer. It says: “I’M STUCK. PLEASE HELP. TRY DRAGON QUEST. โ€“ SEBASTIAN SHULTZ”

Michael tries Dragon quest, Jailbreak, and finally Warzone. In each game, Sebastian appears and asks Michael to help him escape. Michael tries his best but fails in the first two games. In the last game Warzone, Michael saves Sebastian by pulling him into a helicopter just in time.

Later, Michael reads in the newspaper that Sebastian Shultz, a 14-year-old boy from South London, had woken up from a coma after a motorway accident. Michael is shocked because he saw that boy in the game.

Michael checks the internet and learns that Sebastian was playing the same psycho-drive games during the accident. His memory was stored in the computer. Those stolen games were sold and ended up at the Computer Fair, where Michael bought them. This is how Sebastian got into his computer.

In the end, Michael gets an email from Sebastian, thanking him for saving his life and asking to meet soon. Michael feels amazed. He now believes that virtual games can also be realโ€”in a very strange and magical way.

Detailed Summary of the Chapter: Virtually True

1. A Shocking Newspaper Story: Michael was reading a newspaper when he saw a headline: โ€œMIRACLE RECOVERYโ€. A 14-year-old boy named Sebastian Shultz from South London had just woken up from a coma after six weeks. He was injured in a motorway accident. Michael was shocked to see Sebastianโ€™s photo, as he had met him beforeโ€”but not in real life. He had met him inside computer games.

2. Michaelโ€™s Love for Computers: Michael loved computer games. His dad was also crazy about technology. He had a Pentium computer with many advanced gadgets. One day, they went to a Computer Fair and bought virtual reality equipmentโ€”a visor, glove, and some psycho-drive games. These games were special because they could be controlled by thoughts.

3. Meeting Sebastian in a Game: Michael played a game called Wild west. While playing, he met another character who looked like a real boy, not just a game image. That boy warned Michael not to go outside. He was actually Sebastian, trying to escape. After the game ended, Michael found a message printed:

โ€œIโ€™M STUCK. PLEASE HELP TO RETRIEVE ME. TRY DRAGON QUEST โ€“ SEBASTIAN SHULTZโ€

4. Trying to Save Sebastian: Michael entered another game, Dragon quest, where he met Sebastian again. They tried to run from a dragon, but failed. The next message said:

โ€œTRY JAILBREAK. DONโ€™T GIVE UP โ€“ SEBโ€

In Jailbreak, they tried to escape from prison. They ran past guards and dogs but again Sebastian was lost.

5. The Final Game โ€“ Warzone: Finally, Sebastian asked Michael to try Warzone. In this game, they ran through a war-torn city with tanks and snipers chasing them. They saw a helicopter. Michael jumped in. At the last moment, Sebastian was also pulled into the helicopter. They escaped together!

6. Realization and Truth: After the game, Michael saw the score: 40,000,000. But the bigger surprise came later. He read online that Sebastian was playing a psycho-drive game on his laptop during the accident, and his memory got saved in the game.

Someone had stolen the games from the hospital. They were later sold at the Computer Fairโ€”the same ones Michael had bought.

7. A Real Message from Sebastian: Michael got an email from Sebastian:

โ€œTHANK YOU! YOU SAVED MY LIFE. LETโ€™S MEET SOON. KEEP THE GAMES. โ€“ SEBโ€

8. Message of the Story: Michael now believes that sometimes, virtual things can be true, and with todayโ€™s technology, even a game can become real and life changing.
