How I Spent My Last Summer Break
Summer vacations are the most awaited time in a school student’s life. The two-month-long break from the drudgery of waking up early to attend school is indeed the golden period of every academic session. My last summer break was my best summer break so far. It was an eclectic mix of activities. Apart from the regular coaching classes and home-work, I joined a local library to widen my knowledge and satisfy my love for books. Also, I joined aerobic classes for fun, physical fitness and stress management. Indeed, all the activities were very enriching and I made many new friends too. However, the best part was my five-day trip to Kerala.
 In the last week of my summer break, I undertook this exciting trip to God’s own country with my family. I had always heard a lot about the beauty of Kerala, however, it was only when I landed there that I realised that all that was said was seemingly very little to justify the beauty of this paradise.
Wedged between the Western Ghats on the East and the Arabian Sea on the West, the narrow strip of land known as Kerala is a destination of a lifetime.
The captivating aroma of spices, the enchanting woods and forests, the therapeutical ayurvedic massages and the sun-kissed beaches, all take your breath away.
On our first day of arrival to Cochin, we went to see the local markets of the area and some popular sightseeing places in the area. Some of the places we saw there were the splendid Bolghatty Palace, the archaeological Pareekshith Thampuran Museum and the very old Jewish Synagogue. Then, from Cochin, we went to Munnar where we visited the Eravikulam National Park and Mattupattey Lake. Then, our next stop was Thekkady. Thekkady is synonymous with wildlife and nature treks. Wild animals in their natural habitat is a common and delightful sight during the Periyar Lake cruise there. And lastly, before returning home, we visited the spice plantations of Kumarakom. With that, culminated our five-day long, soul-stirring trip. I returned happy and excited. It was very enjoyable and relaxing. I would say, it was a vacation well spent and my joy knew no bounds.
