Ans. What 50th Years of India’s Independence Means to Me
India celebrated her 50th Years (Golden Jubilee) of Independence in 1997. Functions, ceremonies and great celebrations were held all over the country. These highlighted the sacrifices made by our leaders as well as millions of unknown volunteers who laid down their lives to get India’s freedom from the British rule. But what have we achieved during these fifty years? We have given birth to a new set of rulers who lack dignity and character. They are thoroughly corrupt and dishonest. Law and order are in a poor state. Cases of violence, robbery, murders and kidnapping have become usual headlines. The older people woefully say that British Raj was better. We, young people, should preserve our independence. We should fight the monster of corruption, nepotism, regionalism and other social ills prevalent in the society to make our country a really vibrant and independent one.
