5. Formal Letter Example Regarding : Demand for a Post Office

Despite assurances by the postal department, there are no post offices in Sectors 3, 9, 11 and 15 of Rohini. Plots for the post offices were identified long ago but the postal department officials say that there are no funds for construction. Two and a half years have elapsed since, but still, the demand of the residents is pending. Write a letter to the Minister of Communication for an early release of funds for the construction and, in the meantime, a post office be opened in rented premises or there should be vans equipped with postal services.

Subject: Demand for a Post Office

Sir

Despite assurances by the postal department, there are no post offices in Sectors 3, 9, 11 and 15 of Rohini. About three lakh residents of these sectors have been travelling almost five kilometres to avail of the postal services for more than a decade. The plots for the post offices were identified long ago but the construction could not be started because there were no funds. The residents are facing hardships.

Women and the elderly are most affected. The frustrated residents of over 150 group housing societies approached the area MP and he did recommend the matter to the Ministry. Hopes were revived but nothing materialised. Two and a half years have elapsed since then but the residents’ demand is still pending.

You are humbly requested to look into the matter and arrange the release of funds for the construction of the post offices. In the meantime please instruct your department to open a post office in rented premises or there should be well equipped postal vans. I am sure your personal intervention will work wonders.

Yours sincerely

R.Kumar
