You will be happy to learn that our daughter, Rinku is engaged to Shri Manish Pandit, a Captain in the army. Shri Pandit’s parents were well-known to us when we served together in the Indian Embassy in Rome ten years ago. Manish is a handsome, moustached six-footer, a suitable match for our fiery daughter. Both are avid tennis players too.
The wedding has been fixed for 5 May, 19…, the best time of the year in Srinagar. We are planning a trip with the guest to Pahalgam and Sonmarg.
Please do come to the wedding. Let us know in advance if you wish us to arrange return reservations.

Let us first congratulate you on the wonderful match you have been able to find for Rinku. A beautiful and assertive daughter like yours can get along well only with a strong-willed army man. We well remember how on our last visit to your place, Rinku was firing the servants about their chores. She seemed to rule the roost.
I have already made reservations for our journey to Srinagar in May. As you know, booking is permitted well in advance and is done by computer now.
