You lost your small bag while travelling by a local bus. A cheque for a heavy amount was in that bag. If the cheque falls into the hands of an unscrupulous person, it can be misused. Write a letter to our bank asking them to stop payment against that cheque.

Subject: Stopping the payment against cheque

Sir

This is to bring to your notice that I have lost a cheque duly filled in the name of LIC of India. The said cheque can be misused. As far as I remember, I forgot to cross the cheque. The details are as under:

Cheque No. 12345

 Dated August 3, 20xx

Amount 17,500/-

I request you to stop the payment of this cheque. Kindly take care and if the cheque is presented for payment, do inform me. I have registered an FIR as well.

Yours faithfully,
