You are Ravi/Rani. You observe that the youth of today is more attracted towards the Western culture. They are blindly aping the West. Write a letter to the editor of a national daily expressing your views and concern about it.

Sir
Subject: Youth leaning towards Western culture
We, in India, hold our culture and traditions in high esteem. These are reflected in our lifestyle. India is a land of diversity – social and cultural. We have different values and norms yet we are all Indians. The West continues to draw from our cultures and traditions. Unfortunately, the youth of today have given a go-by to what has been dear to us all along. Culture and tradition of India is one of the most respected and looked upon and rather than being proud of that today’s youth are blindly aping the west. They have started aping the West—whether it is music, dress, social norms and morals. Indian society expects a certain behaviour our youth of have been clouded by the Western culture which does not give much importance to human relationships. Expression of love in public may be acceptable in Western countries but we cannot even think about it. The Western approach to arts is also different. One cannot compare the Indian music with any form of Western music.
Blindly aping the West makes no sense when our culture offers the best. A selective approach is needed.
Yours faithfully
Rani
