Sir

Subject: Safety Measures for Pilgrims

Through the esteemed columns of your newspaper, I would like to aware the masses and the government to the plight of pilgrims and suggest some measures for the safety and well being of the Pilgrims. As we all know India is a religious country and people have a strong attachment with their religious feelings. Religious fairs and congregations are frequently held in our country. We read about disastrous happenings that take place in such fairs in the form of big fires, stampedes, etc. in which hundreds of pilgrims die. This all happens because of mismanagement and maladministration.

A number of measures like the trans-shipment facility and deployment of rescue teams for the evacuation of people have been initiated for the Char Dham Yatra. The gel mat technology was also being used in roads cross-crossing the holy shrines. This latest technology lets water seep in the ground while allowing people a smooth passage even if roads are covered with slush and debris due to the rain-induced landslides.

Labourers have also been deployed at different places so that roads could be immediately cleared of debris in case of landslips. The communication network has also been strengthened. “Besides, intense patrolling is also being carried out in. In Uttarakhand, the state government has decided to issue biometric cards and registering the mobile numbers of pilgrims visiting the state for the Char Dham Yatra, so that a timely weather forecast can be provided. Keeping in mind the health of the pilgrims a mobile medical team will also be stationed at every 10-15km along the route.

I hope these suggestions will really help in the future endeavours of the government for pilgrims.

Yours sincerely,

 Sachin kukreja
