My dear Lata,
You are quite aware of my tight position. I am passing through a crisis. I am leading a poor man’s life. I am living from hand to mouth.
This is my last year in school. Examinations are at hand. The winter season has set in quite long ago. I have no woollen clothes’ to ward off the chilly winds of December and January. I have no books to go through (them) for the final examination. Even my admission-fee is pending. It needs to be deposited at once.
To be born as ‘poor’ is a big curse. My poverty is my chains in the path of my progress. So far I have fought this battle all alone. Now I am tired. My patience was exhausted. My courage has given in. After God, you are my ultimate resort. I must say even the Almighty Lord is sleeping soundly in the heaven. He has no concern for a poor man like me. You are my best friend. In the past, you have been helping me in a number of ways.
All doors of help are closed on me. To whom should I look to in this hour of trouble? It is only you, my dear who can arrange a loan of one thousand rupees for me. In the absence of money, this year of mine will go waste. Now my respect is in your hands.
I have explained to you my critical condition in a plain language. Now it is for you to support me or throw me in the whirlpool of life.
I shall repay this loan of Rs. 1000/- at the earliest.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
