Meaning: –to have something to say to someone which might cause a quarrel

Meaning: –a person who has an excessive love of reading books

Meaning: –with remarkable speed

Meaning: – on the way home

Meaning: –Failure to keep a promise to marry one to whom you are betrothed

Meaning: –one’s means of livelihood

Use:-He earns his bread and butter by selling fruit.

13. His bread is well buttered

Meaning: –He is in fortunate circumstances

Use:-As his bread is well buttered; he does not care for expenses.

14. To breadwinner

Meaning: –one who provides the means of livelihood for himself and his family

Use:-Kuldeep is the breadwinner of his family.

15. To break in

Meaning: –to tame; to bring under control in a gentle manner

Use:-The lion was broken in with great difficulty.

16. To break the news

Meaning: –to reveal something unpleasant in a gentle manner

Use:- I don’t know how to break the news of his failure.

Meaning: – to make a full confession)

Meaning: –to die

Use:-He breathed his last after a long illness.

20. To breathe freely again

Meaning: –to feel comfortable

Use:-She was able to breathe freely again after the death of her mother-in-law.
