My dear Ajay,

It pains me a lot to read your progress report. It speaks of your poor performance in the first terminal test. It is the beginning of the academic year. It is your first public examination. Your result is extremely discouraging. You have been standing first in your previous classes. What has become of your promises? You have falsified all my hopes. I expected a lot from you. Sorry, chap!

You must find out your weak points. What are the areas of your neglect? Take heart and do not be dismayed, work whole-heartedly. Go through all your books very carefully. Revise your lessons properly. Practice all the important questions again and again. Consult your teachers, friends and the bright students of your class. Do not shirk work. Shun the company of bad and idle boys. Do not associate yourself with them. They bring a bad name to their parents, school and to themselves, too. What is the use of studying when you are showing bad results? Better leave your school and help father in his business. It is no good to waste time, money and resources. After all, we are poor people. We cannot afford useless Pursuits.

Improve yourself and show a better result next time. Do not force me to withdraw your name from the school.

With love from parents.

Your loving brother,

Raj
