Dear Pratik,
I know that you must be cursing and terribly angry with me for not attending your sister’s marriage ceremony nor intimating that I would be unable to do so. Well, my dear, sometimes circumstances play cruel jokes and thwarted what we wish dearly. If you go through the following few lines patiently, you will understand my predicament.
As I was about to leave home on the 20th. My neighbour’s wife rushed in. Her young son, Ankur, had fallen down the stairs. Since no male member was present, I had to accompany her to the hospital. The child had to be operated upon and I had to keep rushing from the ward to medical shops and concerned doctors. It was only at 10 p.m. of the night when the child regained consciousness. I had to stay with them for the whole night.
I am sorry I could not keep my word. I apologise to you and request you to excuse my absence.
