Subject: Discouraging ‘Reality Shows’ of children on TV

Sir,

I have just read a news in The Hindustan Times that a girl named Vaishali committed suicide for not being selected in a reality show named `Geet Gata Chal’. `Geet Gata Chal’  is a reality show which gives opportunities to the children to show their talent like singing, dancing and other stage activities. Actually, these shows should be for fun purpose. But to attain high TRP rates, these serials adopt crude means. Their selection procedure is unpredictable. Children, who participate in these shows, sometimes feel helpless and adopt wrong practices after their failure in such shows. These reality shows have snatched childhood of talented children.

Kindly take an earnest step to stop broad these shows as these shows of young children are not serving the purpose of the society. They have turned themselves as the money making machines in which childhood has been lost somewhere. Instead of reality shows some other programmes like the Quiz, know the Budding Artist, Variety Shows etc. should be introduced to motivate young artists.

Thanking you,

Sincerely yours,

 Vishal
