SSC — Secondary School Certificate
SSC Full-Form refers to the Secondary School Certificate. SSC is the name given to the class twelfth board exam in India. The CBSE, ICSC, and several other state boards conduct their own board exams and lay down their own exam schemes and passing criteria. In the SSC exam, the external examinations that are held at the end of the academic session of class twelfth are conducted by the boards themselves. The questions included in the exam are based on the syllabus described by the board.
At the beginning of the academic session each year, the board releases the academic curriculum, which specifies the marks allotted to each paper or subject, the exam duration and the number of papers in the SSC exam. The theory, as well the practical exams, is conducted for each paper, except for the language subjects. The assessment of each practice and theory paper is done using numerical scores. The grades are also indicated in the mark sheets in addition to the numerical scores for the external exam’s subjects.
On the other hand, only the grades are shown in the mark sheet for the subjects of internal assessment. The minimum marks that the students need to obtain for qualifying is thirty-three per cent. This condition is applicable for every external exam’s subject. For subjects including practical work, students are required to score thirty-three per cent marks individually in theory and practices separately. Additionally, they have to obtain thirty-three per cent as the aggregate marks for qualifying in that subject.
The majority of the boards conduct exams for every subject, except for health education, physical education, and general studies. The examinations of these subjects are taken by the schools themselves. For all subjects, each student is provided one paper that carries one hundred marks. The students are given three hours to complete the paper. The SSC exam has its own importance. A good performance in this exam eases the path of the students in their future career.
