QTP — HP Quick Test Professional

QTP Full-Form refers to HP Quick Test Professional. The QTP or HP Quick Test Professional offers regression test and functional automation for various environments and software applications. Another name of QTP Full-Form | What is Quick Test Professional (QTP)OTP is UFT or Unified Functional Testing. It is also utilized for providing quality assurance services for enterprises. The QTP provides support to the scripting interface and keywords. Additionally, it features a GUI or Graphical User Interface.

It utilizes the VBScript or Visual Basic Scripting Edition for specifying a testing process, and for manipulating the application controls and objects under test. Mercury Interactive (the software division of HP) originally wrote the QTP and named it. The HP later combined the HP service Test and HO QTP to form a single package. These two integrated into single software helps developers in testing all layers of the operations of a program, which are the database layer, the service layer, and the interface.

Exception Handling

The QTP uses recovery scenarios for managing exception handling. The main aim is to continually perform tests in case any failure occurs unexpectedly. Since the QTP usually gets attached in the application’s memory space, there may be certain exceptions that may lead to the termination of the QTP. Once the QTP is terminated, it cannot be recovered again.

Data-driven Testing

The QTP also provides support to the data-driven testing. The implementation of the testing takes place in the form of Xcel workbooks, which is accessible from the QTP. There are two kinds of data tables in the QTP. These tables are the local data sheets and global datasheets. The data present in these tables can be read easily by the test steps for variable data into the software application being tested, and ultimately verifying the result.

Complex UI Objects

Sometimes, the QTP is not able to recognize the customized YI and other complicated objects. These object types can be defined by users as virtual objects. The QTP does not provide support to the virtual objects for low level or analogue recording.
