Mira was in a hurry. She was getting late for college. She also had visited the temple as it was an auspicious day and her mother had asked her to bathe the ‘Shivlinga’ in milk. Mira bought a packet of milk and some fruits on her way to the temple. When she reached, she saw that there were long queues with people jostling to get inside the temple. She took her place in the queue and enjoyed the vibrant scene. Suddenly, she felt someone tugging her hand.
It was a small boy, a beggar, asking her for something to eat. He looked malnourished and tired. Mira’s heart was touched. She bent down and caressed his cheek. She stepped out from the queue and went to a tea stall nearby. She bought some biscuits and gave it to the boy who ate them happily. She also gave him the fruits and the milk to take back to his family.
