 A bee society consists of a large number of female workers, some males and a queen. The queen lives in the centre of the hive. She lays eggs. The males fertilize the queen’s eggs. The worker bees perform all the other activities of the colony. The behaviour of the workers shows a considerable division of labour. Some bees construct the structure of the combs. Other inspect the development of the larvae. Some bees’ product the entrance of the hive and others make honey. They store honey in the other cells. The beekeeper collects the honey from this hive once a year.
