Water Logging

Read the Passage Carefully and Answers the Following Questions:-

Water, Water everywhere. After a heavy bout of rain in the city on Monday and Tuesday — Waterlogging,

New Delhi: On Tuesday, living in Delhi felt like some punishment. What with traffic jams, water logging and strikes all making sure that one’s life was miserable. And in case one managed to overcome the traffic pile-ups and the car did not break down in a puddle of water — the strike by truckers’ and bank officials turned August 24 into Black day for Delhites.

Where there was no water logging, there bad roads and potholes compensated. “The colony road connecting Asiad Village to Yusuf Sarai in Gulmohar Park is totally broken. Driving down the stretch is a roller-coaster ride. Roads in our colony have not been repaired for a decade,” said Gulmohar Park resident V C Tandon.

Trouble spots like Adchini, Minto Bridge, Moolchand Crossing, R. K. Puram, Pitampura, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road were all inundated as usual. “Adchini seems to be always dug up. Things get particularly worse if it rains, traffic can only crawl”.

If waterlogging takes place, then obviously traffic jams cannot be too far away. Residents spent hours stuck in the traffic pile-ups as a result of waterlogging at places and power failures at others. The worst hold-ups, however, were all reported from south Delhi.

“It was a nightmare trying to drive down MB Road, Adchini and the Lajpat Nagar stretch. Traffic crawled and rainwater threatened to choke car engines. The traffic police, however, said that no jams were reported and traffic was only slowed down. Qamar Ahmed, Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic) said: “

Traffic was slow because of waterlogging -broken, damaged roads, potholes which were mostly throughout the city. However, areas especially affected were Panchkuian Road, the entire Adchini area, Shahid Jeet Singh Marg, Press Enclave, Vikas Marg and Vasant Kunj.”
