School Phobia

Read the Passage Carefully and Answers the Following Questions:-

 There are more and more cases of students who are refusing to go to school due to various reasons. These range from peer pressure to disinterest in studies or even inability to cover up studies in case of prolonged illness, “said psychiatrist Samir Parikh, who interacts with students from many prominent public schools.

This holds true not just for junior classes but also for the senior ones.

Possible factors for school-phobia could be mounting pressure of studies, and the inability to cope with peer pressure.

“Although it is difficult to cite figures, school phobia can be spotted across a large no. of schools,”

A division could be made between the student’s underclass VIII and those from class VIII to XII. The first category of students would simply refuse to go to school using various pretexts.

After this, the phenomenon takes the form of truancy where the child can indulge infrequent or regular bunking.

2. Summary:

There is a considerable increase in the number of students refusing to go to schools at various levels due to various reasons. The peer pressure, studies and inability to maintain good grades are some of the main causes behind these recent trends in the absentation of the students. The pressure in senior classes is from the teachers and studies which lead to tension and truancy.
