 The first day at Delhi University, North Campus passed off peacefully. No ragging incident was reported from any college. “Everybody is not a performer—say no to ragging,” read a poster at a college, bringing home the message that even seemingly harmless pranks by seniors can traumatise a fresher. And that seemed to be the spirit across North Campus where the police and the college authorities were alert to keep a watchful eye on the seniors. The mild forms of raging, rechristened ‘friendly interactions’ did take place. Most colleges followed the dictum of a civilized introduction over refreshment. What a change!
