Through the esteemed columns of your newspaper, I wish to highlight the bad condition of roads in Rajendra Nagar. Citizens pay a number of taxes to ensure the smooth running of the government.
A government should provide basic facilities like good, clean roads and a safe environment for the citizens. In our locality, the roads have not been repaired for the past 3 years. There are pitfall and breakages which cause accidents every other day. The repair work done by government agencies is shoddy and does not last for more than a few months.
The situation is aggravated in monsoons when many people get injured and have accidents due to the worn-out roads. The RWAs have made numerous appeals to the governing bodies but no concrete action has been taken. The issue needs to be addressed urgently before the onset of the monsoons.

The road leading to Bharat School is very congested all hours of the day. It is one of the busiest roads in the city, but it is full of potholes everywhere. Shopkeepers on both sides have encroached upon a good part of the road. It has increased congestion all the more. The situation becomes horrible during morning hours when people are hurrying to their places of work. There are two big schools situated on this road. Students and parents are often caught in traffic jams which gives them a lot of mental tension. Several representations have been made to the government, but nothing has been done so far to improve the condition of the road. Now we seek to draw the government’s attention through this letter in the columns of your paper.
It is heard that the City Corporation is having a dispute with the Telegraph Department over the repair of this road. But how is the common man concerned with this dispute? Why should he be made to suffer for no fault of his?

Kindly do me the favour of publishing the following few lines in the ‘Letters to the Editor’ column of your paper.
The piece of Church Road falling in front of the Supermarket and the Punjab National Bank is in very bad shape. About a couple of months back it was dug up by the Telegraph Department. They had to lay some underground cables. But since then the road has not been repaired. The road-users and especially those living in this area have to face great inconvenience. There are frequent traffic- jams. Some serious accidents have also taken place. The City Corporation seems to be indifferent or helpless in this matter. They say that a dispute is going on with the Telegraph Department. But how is the common man concerned with this dispute? Why should he be made to suffer for no fault of his?
The Corporation authorities should take the necessary measures to get the road repaired as early as possible. It gives a very ugly look and is also a danger to the life and limb of the road-users.

Will you please be kind enough to publish the following few lines in the columns of your esteemed paper?
Ours is a posh locality. But surprisingly the roads are in shambles. They are all full of holes and ditches. During the rainy season, the dirty water collects there. There seems to be a constant danger of road accidents.
We have written to the concerned authorities time and again, but all our requests have fallen on deaf ears. We have entreated them to improve and repair the roads but their reply is all the time quite evasive and dilatory (not straight forward and belated). We are fed up with them. They are sleeping. They are not serious about our grave problem. A few children of tile area have met with fatal accidents. The other day an old man fell into a deep ditch and broke his thigh bone. He is lying groaning and crying in the Bara Hindu Rao Hospital. We fail to understand why our city-fathers do not feel concerned with their civic responsibility.
