GPRS Full-Form Name: GPRS Meaning
GPRS Full-Form refers to General Packet Radio Service. GPRS is the upgraded technology of the basic GSM or Global System for mobile communication and provides more speed as compared to the GSM. The ETSI or European Telecommunications Standard Institute originally standardized GPRS in response to the earlier cellular technologies like i-mode and CDPD. The 3GPP or 3rd Generation Partnership Project has the responsibility for its maintenance. The amount of data transferred forms the basis of the billing charges of the GPRS usage. It is d ifferent from circuit-switched data, which is charged on the basis of the number of minutes the system is connected. If the GPRS is used more than the amount mentioned in the bundle cap, then either the usage is disallowed, or the speed gets decreased, or the GPRS gets charged with the usage of every megabyte.
The data capabilities of the GSM extend from the use of GPRS and provide various services.
