Q.1. Bill Bryson says, “I am, in short, easily confused.” What examples has he given to justify this?

Ans. He says that if he goes to the cinema, he has to go to the lavatory for a number of times. He has to return to the hotel desks two or three times to ask the number of his room.

Ans. When the zip on his carry-on bag gives way all thing fall out of the bag. The newspaper cuttings and other documents rain down in a fluttery cascade. The coins bouncing here and there. The lidless tin of tobacco rolls crazily disgorging its contents. These things spread over an area about the size of a tennis court.

Ans. His finger has gashed on the zip of the carry-on bag. So it is bleeding. His wife is neither angry nor troubled at his behaviour. She is simply wondered. She says that she can’t believe him do this for a living.

Ans. Once on an aeroplane, the author leans over to tie a shoelace. Just at the moment, the passenger sitting in the seat ahead of him throws his seat back into full recline. The author finds himself in a crash position. He could escape only by clawing the leg on the man sitting next to him.

Ans. While talking to a sweet lady in the aeroplane, the author was sucking his pen. The pen leaks. So his teeth and gums look ‘navy blue’.

Ans. Bill Bryson is ached to be suave. He is fully successful in his mission. He performs many unsuave’ actions. He knocks soft drink onto the lap of a sweet lady in the aeroplane. He sits several times on chewing gum, ice cream, cough syrup and motor oil.

Q.7. Why do you think Bill Bryson’s wife says to the children, “Take the lids off the food for Daddy”?

 Ans. Bill Bryson’s wife was feared lest her husband should knock the food on all of them. So she asks them to take the lids oft’ the food for Daddy.

Q.8. What is the significance of the title?

Ans. The title of the lesson ‘The Accidental Tourist’ is quite apt.  Bryson is right in describing f himself as an accidental fellow He is never normal in his behaviour. He does some topsy-turvy things all the time. It is also right to call him a tourist. He is all the time on an aeroplane. Ile says that he ‘lies about 1,00,000 miles a year. Thus the title ‘The Accidental Tourist’ has a big significance.
