EXERCISE -9

 Change the form of the narration:

1. Sid said, “What is the matter, Torn?”

2. Sid said to Tom, “Aren’t you dying?”

3. Tom said to Sid, “You will kill me.”

4. Sid said, “I must call auntie.”

5. Tom said, “I forgive you everything, Sid.”

6. “Where are you going?” said Swami’s father.

7. “Where were you at this time,” his father said to him.

8. “Should I read even when I have no school?” said Swami.

9. “Look Sharp,” father said to Swami.

10. “Do you want a whole day to throw out the spider?” father asked.

ANSWERS:

1. Sid asked Tom what the matter was.

2. Sid asked Tom if he was not dying.

3. Tom told Sid that he would kill him (Tom).

4. Sid said that he must call auntie.

5. Tom told Sid that he forgive him everything.

6. Swami’s father asked where he was going.

7. His father asked him where he was at that time.

8. Swami asked if he should read even when he had no school.

9. Father asked Swami to look sharp.

10. Father asked Swami if he wanted a whole day to throw out the spider.

EXERCISE -10

 Change the form of the narration:

1. The lady said, “I won’t go on the top.”

2. He said to the lady, “You must take that dog out.”

3. The policeman said to him, “Give me your name and address.”

4. “You will have pneumonia,” said the man to the lady.

5. The conductor said, “The bus will not go until the dog is brought out.”

6. Mr Hudson said to me, “I could show you one.”

7. He explained, “The thin men are the divers.”

8. I asked, “Who is the man sitting on the bench?”

9. I said to Mr Hudson, “How long will they stay under.”

10. He said, “It pricked the rope puller’s fingers.”

 ANSWERS:

1. The lady said that she won’t go on the top.

2. He told the lady that she must take that dog out.

3. The policeman suggested to him that he should give him his name and address.

Or

 The police advised him to give him his name and address.

4. The man told the lady that she would have pneumonia.

5. The conductor said that the bus wouldn’t go until the dog was brought out.

6. Mr Hudson told me that he could show me one.

7. He explained that the thin men were the divers.

8. I asked who the man was sitting on the bench.

9. I asked Mr Hudson how long they would stay under.

10. He said that it had pricked the rope puller’s fingers.
