Head Boy’s Message
“…and then one day you’ll find, ten years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.”
When I was asked to give a message as the head boy for the year 20—-, all the memories of these ——– years in _____School Name_____ etched in mind suddenly poured out and nostalgia hit me like a tsunami hits a coast.
I feel as if all these memories, some dim, some elusive and some clear as crystal, tell me that school is so much more than just grades, uniform, discipline and assignments. I can’t believe that such a long time has passed and it sends a chill down my spine just when I think how beautifully and amazingly this institution has changed and has kept up with the values and ideals it always stood for. I vividly remember the conversation with the principal on the day I was elected the head boy. He told me how representing the most important part of this school, the students, is the most important job in this organisation and how upholding the values and traditions is much more important. He gave to me a very sophisticated piece of paper which very elegantly treasured a few of Frost’s lines in the most admirable handwriting ever. The paper seemed to quietly whisper in my ear, “The woods are dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.” ______School Name_______, the very name of this institution invokes a sense of pride in the very personality of everybody who has ever been a part of this establishment. It’s not just an institution or an organization, it’s a home away from home and it’s a site where children are taught and encouraged to dream. As a senior student of this school, I frequently am faced by the question “Why should I get my ward admitted to your school?” My answer to their question is simple.
If they want a school for their child which focuses on how a child speak than what he wears, and a school which instils confidence into him rather than imparting fake pride, _______School Name_______ is their answer. And most importantly, this institution helps them to dream. Children here are not bound by the walls of conformity; they have the freedom to express and the freedom to think. School Name gives its children an expanded horizon for vibrant thinking and promotes innovation.
How can I tell? Hands on experience, my dear friends. if not many, but one lesson that my student life at School Name has taught me is that a journey of a thousand miles starts from a single step and the most important and the only thing to worry about is that first step. You need to takeit. Because the best you can do to your dreams is realize them. Bring them to reality. Work for them. That’s what _____School Name______ has taught me. Science Working Model, Cookery, Swimming, Athletics, Theatre, Art, Recording, Debat; all of these have given immense opportunities to each and every School NameSian. I remember how we used to work so hard to get that one achievement card from our teacher. That’s all that mattered.
___School Name______ has so wonderfully taken care that every child here gets a quality experience and the school continues to try its best to contribute holistically to the lives of its students. As a humanities student, I’m guided to think of innovative theories, new ideas, freshly carved policies and I feel immensely proud to say that’s what the student council of ____School Name_____ stands for. The Students Council of 20——– has been an amazingly creative one, breaking the monotony, the council was able to give the students a memorable and enriching year. Initiatives including the Talk Session, First ever Model United Nations, Disciplinary Drive have proven the capacity of the council. I couldn’t have asked for a more eligible team. ____ School Name ______ has taught me that respect and hard work cannot be substituted with anything and also that conforming to injustice and not questioning the moral wrong is evil. If someone asks me what one lesson ____ School Name ______ has taught me in my life, I’d say it taught me, “Don’t just be another brick in the wall”
To all my juniors and fellow peers at School Name, I’d like to end my message by saying, the joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. Cherish what you have learnt here at School Name, keep the values and ideals safely it has inculcated in you and hope for the best. Because in words of Andy Dufresne, “hope may be dangerous. Hope may be weak. But hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies”
