Royal Governess : Asked by the queen she took Gulliver for a round of the city. She showed him the shops and bazaars.
This chapter describes Brobdingnag. It contains fifty one cities. Gulliver visited the bazaars and the temple
The country of Brobdingnag was ideally situated. It had high mountains on the north east side and deep sea on all other sides. Sometimes a whale was thrown ashore and common people had a good feast. This country had fifty one cities, a hundred walled towns and many villages. The capital Lorbnilgrud stood on both sides of the river. There were more than eighty thousand houses. The royal palace spread over seven miles having many big buildings.
One day Gulliver went to the market with the royal governess. He happened to see a horrible sight near the shops. He saw a crowd of beggars standing there. Among them was a woman suffering from breast cancer. Her big breast was swollen and it was full of big holes. Gulliver also saw a man with a huge tumour in the neck and another beggar with a couple of wooden legs. The most disgusting sight was of big lice crawling on their clothes.
Gulliver desired to see the main temple and the tower belonging to it. As per the program, Gulliver’s nurse carried him in a box. Gulliver returned in unhappiness. The tower was no more than three thousand feet. To Gulliver, it did not appear so high as compared to the bigness of other things in this country.
