“My mother gives me a roti and sabzi for lunch. It is so embarrassing. Children make fun of me. I hardly open my tiffin box in school,” said Golu. One fateful day, Golu happened to see a child begging for food from every passerby. Golu kept staring at the child. He was so tiny, and looked so hungry! Golu suddenly remembered his lunch box and took it out. He then gave it to the pleading boy. Grateful, and with a smile on his face, he took the lunch but didn’t eat a morsel. He ran towards another little child and started feeding him. Golu approached them curiously and asked the child who the other boy was He told him that he was his brother, and the two had not eaten anything for two days. “Then why don’t you eat half?” Golu asked. “He’s hungrier,” he replied. Golu was touched. He ran home and asked his mother for some more food. He gave it to the child and was happy to see him gobble up the food. Golu then realized the importance of food in life, and also the fact that how lucky he was to have three meals daily, plus other delicacies! Thereafter, he didn’t bother what others thought of his tiffin and ate it regularly.
